Inserting dates
I write all my correspondence on a letterhead template in Works for Windows 95 and save a copy on my hard drive in a personal mail folder. To date each letter I use the Insert/Date and Time command. But when I opened my mail folder to check on an unanswered letter I discovered that the dates on copies of all the letters had changed to the current date and I had no way of checking when I originally wrote them. This does not happen with letterhead templates in Word 6 or Publisher 97. It only occurs with the Insert command and not if you type in the date. Is there any way of preventing this from happening? - Ron Clarke
The displayed date will not change if the Automatically update when printed box is unchecked
To insert an unchanging date into a Works document, choose Date and Time from the Insert menu. In the Insert Date and Time dialogue box select the format that you want to use. To ensure the date doesn't change, make sure the Automatically update when printed check box is unchecked. | Category: Word processing Issue: Aug 1997 Pages: 162 |
