Users of MicrosoftÆs FrontPage 98 Web authoring software might not be aware of the programÆs destructive powers. Did you know it could wipe your hard drive?

If you create a FrontPage Web in the root directory of a drive, FrontPage converts the entire drive to a FrontPage Web. Problems arise if you later choose to delete the Web ù since all files and folders are included in the Web, these will all be deleted.

Strictly speaking, this isn't a bug. Microsoft argues that many applications allow users to delete folders, and that there are instances when a user may legitimately wish to delete a root folder-based Web ù when it's on a secondary partition, for example.

Still, it's a "problem" worth knowing about. The solution is ensure that all Webs are created in a subfolder, and not in the root directory.
