This completely new security system is intended for portable computers, for stationary workstations or for the case where, when the owner isn't present, unauthorised access by an undesirable person attempts to steal or abuse data. Sodat Password Manager is installed into WINDOWS 95, 98 & NT. The Sodat Password Manager security system prohibits the process of booting an arbitrary operating system by an unauthorised person. If Sodat Password Manager is activated by the computer's owner then, before the booting process, the operating system asks for the predefined password to be entered. If the password isn't entered properly then it is impossible to start the booting process. Unauthorised users can not access computers which do not belong to them. While Sodat Password Manager is active it is impossible to boot the system from a normal system diskette. In the case where it is necessary to boot the system from a diskette while Sodat Password Manager is active then the only way is to use the Sodat Password Manager installation diskette, from which it is possible to boot the system. Even in this case it is necessary to enter the required password. During Sodat Password Manager's installation process an emergency password is generated, which with its help it is possible to boot the system in an emergency. This password is unique and unusable for other installations.

Since Sodat Password Manager is booted from the boot sector of the hard disk it is impossible to bypass it like a classical password, which is done by using SETUP or mounting the hard disk into another computer. An operating system can not be booted if at least one disk in the computer is installed with Sodat Password Manager active.

If Sodat Password Manager is inactive then it is possible to work with the computer completely normally.
