Q. What is an appointment?

A. An appointment is a block of time set aside for a specific purpose. Usually it involves being at a certain place at a certain time. A visit to the doctor, meeting friends for lunch, or getting a haircut at a certain time are all good examples of appointments. Appointments differ from memos in that appointments have a specific start time known in advance.

Q. What is a public appointment?

A. When you create an appointment you are given the option of making the appointment public or private. Public appointments can be seen by you and all those to whom you have granted read-access permission, except those that you designate as exceptions when you create the appointment.

Q. What is a private appointment?

A. When you create an appointment you are given the option of making the appointment public or private. Only you and those to whom you grant permission when it is created can see a private appointment.

Q. How do I create an appointment?

A. You create an appointment by clicking the Add Appointment icon, which will cause the Add Appointment screen to appear. Use this screen to enter information relevant to the new appointment. You must set the starting date and time, the ending date and time, and some text describing the appointment. You can also designate those who do and do not have permission to view the appointment.

Q. Can I schedule appointments on someone elseÆs calendar?

A. Yes, but only if you have been granted write-access to that personÆs calendar.

Q. What happens if I schedule an appointment for someone but they already have an appointment scheduled for the same block of time?

A. If you try to schedule an appointment for a block of time that is already occupied you will receive an error message. After acknowledging the error message you will be allowed to change the time of the appointment or cancel it altogether.

Q. Can I see someone elseÆs appointments when I view their calendar?

A. You can only see appointments on another personÆs calendar if one of the following conditions is true:
