401: Error
Description |
Microsoft SMTP Service cannot initialize the socket library (Wsock.dll). Network settings might not be correct, or another service might be connected to the port youÆve configured for TCP/IP. |
User Action |
Restart the computer. Check the TCP/IP configuration in the Network application in Control Panel. If TCP/IP is installed, be sure that it is bound to the correct adapter(s). (For more information, see the Windows NT Server documentation.) Stop any other services listening on the port you have configured for TCP/IP, or change the port in the SMTP Site property sheet in Internet Service Manager. |
402: Error
Description |
On SMTP site %1, the maximum number of allowed inbound connections (%2) has been reached. All additional connections are being closed. |
User Action |
Raise the maximum number of inbound connections in the SMTP Site property sheet in Internet Service Manager. If necessary, add additional SMTP server computers to handle the volume of connections. |
403: Error

Free up the memory currently in use by closing any nonessential applications. You might also want to increase your systemÆs physical or virtual memory. 407: Error
Description |
SMTP site %1 cannot create a client connection object for a user at host %2. The connection to this user is forced closed because there arenÆt enough connection objects defined in memory. The return error code (in the Data box shown below) might be useful if you have to call Microsoft Technical Support to fix this problem. |
