Use the SMTP Site property sheet to configure the connection to a receiving server. You can designate the TCP port used to send messages, determine how many simultaneous open connections the site can have, and set a time-out option to indicate when to close an inactive connection.
Option | Description |
TCP Port | Designates the TCP port used for outgoing transmissions. The default is port 25. The outgoing port setting can be the same as that for incoming transmissions, or it can be different. |
Limited to |
Specifies the total number of simultaneous outbound connections to all remote domains that can exist at one time. The default is 500 connections. The minimum is 1. The default for outgoing connections is lower than that for incoming connections because the capacity of the servers to which messages are delivered is unknown. This setting can be used to improve system performance in conjunction with Maximum number of outbound messages per connection on the Messages property sheet. |
Connection time-out (seconds) | Specifies the time allowed before an inactive connection is closed. The default is 600 seconds. |
Limit connections per domain | Limits connections to any single remote domain. The default is 100 connections. This number should be less than or equal to the value for the Limited to option. |
