Enabling Logging

You can enable logging for individual Web and FTP sites and choose the log format for each site. (The log file is an ASCII file or ODBC-compliant database, and is separate from the event-logging carried out through use of Windows NT Server features.) When logging is enabled, it is enabled for all the site's directories, but you can disable it for specific directories.

Before enabling logging for a site, you should know which log format you want to use. For descriptions of the available formats, see About Logging Web Site Activity.

You can specify the log-file directory, as well as the criterion for the starting of a new log file (for example, daily, weekly, or by file size). For more information, see Specifying How Log Files are Saved.

For information about necessary steps for ODBC logging, see Preparing for ODBC Logging.
