It's Easy to Get Tested and Licensed
To license the Logo, you must have your application tested to ensure compliance with the Logo requirements. Compliance testing is performed by VeriTest , an independent lab. Turnaround is five business days or less. Please follow these simple steps to license the Logo:
- Make sure your application meets the requirements
- Complete and sign the agreements
- Send in your application for testing
- Getting test results
- Using the Logo
Step One: Requirements
Make sure you application meets the requirements:
- Download and review the Logo Requirements Handbook.
- Review the pre-testing techniques in the handbook to ensure your product is compliant. In particular, please pretest your product's installation using the Installation Analyzer tool from VeriTest, Inc.

Step Two: Complete and Sign the Agreements
You must complete and submit the following paperwork as part of your application for the "Designed for Windows" Logo.
- Complete and sign the Windows Logo License Agreement
- Complete and sign the Testing Agreement from VeriTest . Confidentiality Option: On the VeriTest Testing Agreement, you have the option to keep your testing and test results confidential from Microsoft. If you choose this option, upon passing a compliance test, you must sign a Release of Confidentiality Form allowing VeriTest to send the results to Microsoft. Microsoft can grant you a license to use the Logo only after you sign this release.
- Complete the VeriTest Online Vendor Questionnaire.
Filling out the Vendor Questionnaire accurately and completely will ensure that your product is tested in the shortest time possible. You must thoroughly document any exceptions and requests for exemptions on this form.
Important: Upon submitting the online questionnaire, you will receive a tracking number from VeriTest. Write this tracking number on your product disk or CD-ROM when you send it to VeriTest for testing.

Step Three: Send in Your Application for Testing
You must include all of the following when you submit your product to VeriTest:
- Your software product on floppy disk, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
- The results of your product pretesting.
- A signed paper copy of the VeriTest, Inc. Testing Agreement.
- A signed paper copy of the Windows Logo License Agreement.
- The test fee , payable to VeriTest. Note: Do not submit testing fees payable to Microsoft.

Step Four: Getting Test Results
Once you submit your product for compliance testing:
- You will receive test results from VeriTest within five business days from when your complete application package is received.
- If you did not choose the Confidentiality Option, VeriTest will send a copy of the test results to both Microsoft and you at the same time.
- If you chose the Confidentiality Option in the VeriTest Testing Agreement, you must provide VeriTest with a signed Release of Confidentiality Form before VeriTest will forward the test results and your license agreement to Microsoft.
- Microsoft will then sign the license agreement and send it to the person you designated as the marketing contact in your Vendor Questionnaire.

Step Five: Using the Logo
Once your product passes compliance testing and you receive a copy of the Microsoft Windows Logo License Agreement signed by Microsoft, you can begin to use the Logo on packaging, advertising, Web sites, and other promotional materials for that specific product.
- Read the Trademark Guidelines before using the Designed for Windows Logo.
- Electronic copies of the Logo artwork are available for download from a secure Web server using a password. Microsoft will send you this information to you once your product passes testing.
