Subscription Levels

MSDN Subscriptions provide timely, convenient access to the essential technical programming information, developer products, and tools developers need to be successful. Subscriptions come in three levels:

MSDN Library Subscription

Subscribers to this essential reference for developers receive gigabytes of information, including:

  • Sample code. More than 1,500 royalty-free sample applications that demonstrate development techniques for products and technologies such as Microsoft Visual Studio® 6.0, Microsoft Visual Basic®, Microsoft Visual C++®, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Foundation Classes, Windows Foundation Classes, and more.
  • Knowledge Base and bug lists. The complete Microsoft Developer Knowledge Base includes more than 40,000 articles with bug reports and workarounds on all Microsoft development products.
  • Specifications. The latest specifications, covering popular technologies such as COM.
  • Product documentation. All documentation for Microsoft development products and toolkits, including the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 development system, Microsoft Office Developer, Platform SDK, and more.
  • Books and periodicals. Get the full text of select Microsoft Press® books as well as excerpts from well-known titles such as Essential COM and Professional IE Programming. MSDN Professional Subscription

In addition to all materials associated with the MSDN Library subscription level, MSDN Professional subscribers receive the following software:

  • SDKs and DDKs. For API-level development.
  • International versions. Test your software on the latest international versions of the Windows operating system family.
  • Updates and new releases. Delivered straight to you throughout your subscription.

MSDN Universal Subscription

With the Universal Subscription, you will receive both the benefits of a Professional Subscription and Library Subscription level, plus a full year of additional Microsoft products, including:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition, including the Enterprise Editions of Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, Microsoft Visual J++™ 6.0, Microsoft Visual InterDev™ 6.0, and Microsoft Visual FoxPro® 6.0 development systems.
  • The BackOffice Test Platform, including Windows NT Server and its Transaction Server and Internet Information Server technologies, Microsoft SQL Server™, SNA Server, Systems Management Server, Exchange Server, Merchant Server Evaluation, Site Server, and more. You receive a special 10-connection license so you can test your enterprise solutions.
  • Additional development tools. You get Microsoft Office Developer, the Microsoft FrontPage® Web site creation and management tool, and Microsoft Project to handle a broader range of development challenges.
  • International versions. Test your software on the latest international versions of the Windows operating system family and key BackOffice family of server products.
