****************************************************** STICKYTHINGS 3.0 for Windows 95 and NT (c) 1995-96 by Tom Hollander tholland@pcug.org.au ****************************************************** What is Stickythings? --------------------- Stickythings is a program that lets you put "sticky" notes on your desktop so you can quickly jot down notes, ideas, phone numbers, whatever. You can give your notes their own special look, and they will stay there every time you start up Stickythings. Installation ------------ Firstly, run the Setup program to install the required program files into the correct directories. * * * * * * * * You must have the Visual Basic 4.0 runtime libraries (not included here to save on download time) in your \Windows\System folder to run Stickythings. You can get the files at http://www.infi.net/~pride/vbrun/runtime.zip - unzip the files in your System folder and you're away! GET THIS FILE! You'll need the runtime libraries for plenty of other programs too! * * * * * * * * Using Stickythings ------------------ When you first start Stickythings, you will see a tiny window with three options: New, About and Show Notes. Click New every time you want to create a new note. About will display copyright and shareware info. Show Notes bring all notes to the top of the screen, helping you get to any "lost" notes. Once you have created your note, enter your text with the keyboard. You don't have to save the note, it will stay there until you close it (even if you quit Stickythings). To change your note's properties, click on the menu button in the lower-left corner of the note. This menu lets you change the note's Font, Size, Style, Colour, and whether it stays on top of all other windows or not. When you choose "Set as default", the current note's properties will be inherited by all new notes. If your Windows display setup is less than HighColour (16-bit) colour, you should only choose pure (undithered) colours or the notes may look pretty ugly. I recommend you find out whether your video card supports HighColour and if so get a driver for it. I just did this, and it makes lots of programs look MUCH nicer! To quit Stickythings, click the close box on the main Stickythings window. Remember, only close the individual note windows if you want to kill those notes. If you want StickyThings to come up every time you start Windows, simply put a shortcut into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp. Shareware Info -------------- This program is shareware, which means it costs one tenth as much as normal commercial software, it will hardly kill you to register it.
