Compression Mode

Here you can choose the compression mode that UHARC will use to compress your files. You can choose one of the following compression modes:

Uncompressed: This mode will store your files uncompressed, so these files won't be compressed at all. You should only use this mode when adding files that are already compressed (JPEGs, MP3s, AVIs, etc.).

LZP Compression: This is the fastest compression mode, but usually it doesn't achieve a good compression rate. Use this mode when you don't have much time and the compression rate doesn't matter.

ALZ Compression: This compression mode is a compromise between compression rate and speed. It works faster than PPM and achieves a better compression rate than LZP, but usually PPM achieves a better compression rate. There are three variants of ALZ: Fast, Medium and Best.

PPM Compression: This compression mode usually achieves the best compression rate, but it works extremely slow. You should use this mode in order to get the best result. Nevertheless in some cases ALZ achives a better compresion rate than PPM.

Dictionary Size

Here you can choose the maximum size of the dictionary UHARC will use to compress your files. A larger dictionary usually results in a better compression rate, but slows down the compression / decompression process at the same time. A smaller dictionary results in a worse compression rate, but speeds up the compression / decompression process. Note: If you choose a larger dictionary, UHARC will occupy more memory while working!

Enable built-in Multimedia Compression

Here you can enable or disable UHARC's Multimedia Compression. The Multimedia Compression achieves a better compression rate when compressing uncompressed multimedia files (Wave-Audio, Bitmaps, etc.). It's recommended not to disable the Multimedia Compression, because even other files like executables or DLLs might contain multimedia data.
