There is a different installation program for each version. The type of system you are using will determine which version is appropriate: Do you have Windows 95 installed? ------------------------------------- No: You must use the DOS version of the game. Yes: You can use either version of the game. Systems that will favor the DOS version ------------------------------------------- - 486 systems - Systems with less than 16 MB of RAM - systems with older bankswitched video cards - ISA and EISA bus machines Systems that will favor the Win95 version --------------------------------------------- - Systems with fast video cards (with good drivers) Once you know which version you want to install ---------------------------------------------------- To install the DOS version go down to the 'Installing the DOS version' section below. To install the Win95 continue with the 'Installing the Windows 95 version' section below. Installation for advanced users ---------------------------------------------------- The Win95 installer is SETUP.EXE, the DOS installer is INSTALL.EXE ===================================================================== Installing the Windows 95 version ===================================================================== When you insert the CD in a Windows 95 system, you will get a start up panel. Hit the 'Install' button, and follow the instructions from there. If for some reason Windows 95 does not run CDs automatically on your system, then follow these instructions: Click the 'Start' button. Choose the 'Run' item in the menu. If your CD drive is D then type: D:setup If your CD drive is some other letter like J for example then you would type: J:setup Hit the Enter key at the end of whichever line you typed. At this point the install program should start running. Instructions in the program will guide you from this point. ===================================================================== Installing the DOS version --------------------------------------------------------------------- You will need to know the drive letter associated with your CD-ROM. The DOS version can be installed from DOS, Windows 3.x or Windows 95. See the appropriate section below for the system you are installing on Installing the DOS version from DOS --------------------------------------------- Exit any programs that you are running. The following command will need to be entered from the C:\> prompt. If your CD drive is D then type: D:install If your CD drive is some other letter like J for example then you would type: J:install Hit the Enter key at the end of whichever line you typed. At this point the install program should start running. Instructions in the program will guide you from this point. Installing the DOS version from Windows 3.x --------------------------------------------- In the Program Manager window, click on 'File' on the menu bar. Choose the 'Run' item in the menu. If your CD drive is D then type: D:install If your CD drive is some other letter like J for example then you would type: J:install Hit the Enter key at the end of whichever line you typed. At this point the install program should start running. Instructions in the program will guide you from this point. Instructions in the program will guide you from this point. ===================================================================== Windows 95 installation notes --------------------------------------------------------------------- DirectX ----------- The game is commpatible with DirectX 3, but does not require it. If you already have DirectX 2 or 3 installed, you can safely bypass that part of the installation routine. The 'Overwrite newer drivers' option ---------------------------------------- When the installation program installs Direct X, you can choose to overwrite newer drivers. DO NOT use this option unless the game does not work with the existing drivers. This option WILL overwrite Direct X v3. Note that the the game
