Welcome to Allstar2 Allstar2 is an exciting, new development in the world of Quake 2 Capture the Flag. Like All-Star CTF for Quake 1, Allstar2 is a collaboration between some of the best and brightest in the CTF community. The first release of Allstar2 contains 7 new Q2 CTF levels from some very talented level designers. The mod also integrates four great version of CTF and makes setting up a server as simple as a mouse click. For the latest news on Allstar2, be sure to visit both the Allstar2 homesite and Captured.Com . Installation Using Allstar2 is fairly simple. This .zip files contains all of the basic files for Allstar2, both client and server, with a couple of notable exceptions. Use a program like WinZip to unzip this file into the drive that contains Quake II. Be sure you preserve the directory structure when unzipping. The next step is to make sure you have previously downloaded and installed the client files for Quake 2 CTF, which can be found on the files page of Captured.Com , and ThunderWalker II: Rolling Thunder . Both of these contain level packs, so you must download each one to use Allstar2 properly. Running the server Allstar CTF supports 4 different types of CTF, and it is very simple to run a server with each of these types. Inside the Quake2/ctf/ directory you will find a program called Allstar2.exe. When you run this program, you will be able to select Classic CTF, Expert CTF, Threewave CTF, or ThunderWalker II. There is also an option for running the server as either dedicated or as a listen server. Make your selections and click "launch server" to begin the server. The documentation for the different types of server, contained in folder bearing their names, will explain how to make changes to the server.cfg files to alter the server settings. Please note that the Allstar2 server setting will be contained in files named "server1.cfg" within the same folder. The exception is Expert CTF, which is in the ctf folder under exctf.cfg. The documentation for Expert for Quake 2 will explain this in further detail.
