fotografii manipulowanej i poruszajacych kwestie osobowosci".
Larry Rinder, Glowny Kurator University Art Museum
w Berkeley
"Roberta Breitmore is, without
question one of the most significant works of this era, and has exerted
a profound influence locally, nationally and internationally. This work
is considered one of the earliest works to pioneer manipulated photographs
with particular regard to identity. Predating the works in the genre by
Cindy Sherman, Bruce Nauman and others."
Larry Rinder, Chief Curator, University Art Museum,
Berkeley.
äRoberta Breitmore autorstwa Hershman znacznie zmniejszyla bariery dzielace
teatr, literature, malarstwo, fotografie i sztuke konceptualna. Tworcze
niszczenie moze sie okazac najlepiej zapowiadajacym sie wspolczesnym ruchem
artystycznym".
Robert Atkins, äArt in America"
"Hershman 's Roberta Breitmore
has significanly demnished the barriers separating theater, literature,
painting, photography and conceptualism. This creative demolition may be
the most projising movement in the arts today."
Robert Atkins, Art in America

äPrzez zaklecie ikon swiata mediow w serii fotografii Hershman zwraca
uwage na symulacje wywolywane przez srodki masowego przekazu. Kazda fotografia
sklada sie z pary kobieta-mezczyzna, na przyklad Marilyn Monroe\Zygmunt
Freud. Wydaje sie, iz spostrzezenia Hershman zbiezne saz hipoteza Jeana
Baudriarda o nastepstwie simulakrow. Baudriard definiuje symulacje jako
pokolenie hiperrealne (ponadrzeczywiste), nie posiadajace zrodel ani rzeczywistego
otoczenia i podobnie jak Hershman analizuje sposoby, w jakie wykorzystuje
sie sile w spoleczeñstwie zakazonym hiperrealizmem".
Christine Tamblyn, äAfterimage"
"By transmogrofying media icons in a photographic
series, Hershman addresses media induced simlations. Each print features
a male/female pair, such as Marilyn Monroe/Sigmund Freud. Hershman's observations
seem to dovetail with French sociologist Jean Baudrillard's hypothesis
about the precession of simulacra. Baudrillard defines simulations as the
generation of a hyperreal which has no origin or reality, and , like Hershman,
draws inferences about how power is exercised in a society infected by
the hyperreal".

äSeria fotografii Lynn Hershman zatytulowana Odnoza fantomowe bada wzajemne
powiazania miedzy zagadnieniami tozsamosci, posrednictwa i przywlaszczenia.
W przemyslany sposob, lecz kierujac sie trudnymi do odgadniecia zasadami,
zastepuje elementy ciala kobiety przydatkami robota.

"'Lynn Hershman's Phantom
Limb photographic series investigates interrelated issues of identity,
mediation and appropriation. Hershman's stratigic substitutions of robotic
appendages for female anatomical features are uncannily effaced in these
photomontages".
