It is not for the first time that we present in the Mala Gallery an exibition in which colour plays leading role.
Cezary Filew has entitled his first individual presentation "Water-Colours". The artist attempts in his photographs to catch faithfully reality seen by his eyes. The principle of his attempt is subordination of particular photographs to colour values which play primary role here. Perspective and composition of these pictures seems to be less important. There are colour gleams, mirror reflections and refractions of light that dominate here. This work however being executed in photographic technique is deeply rooted in tradition of luminism and force us to associate it with impressionist painting. It is also not meaningless that most pictures were taken outdoors.
Their leading motif is water, its mibility, flashing reflections. The artist was able to efface a dividing line between what is real and what is volatile as a result of changing light conditions. The lack of this dividing line makes these colour photographic impressions attractive.
