I visited Poznan for sylvester. It was very nice, although I didn't see a lot of the city. At least I made it to the pubs. It was the second best way to get warm again. In May I will visit Poznan again and try to see more of it. So make sure the wether will be O.K.

I grew up in a Polish neighborhood in Cleveland, OH USA that was called "Poznan" presumably because the early Polish people who settled there were from Poznan. The neighborhood was built around St. Casimir's parish which still exists but the polish community has dissolved into the suburbs of Cleveland. That neighborhood is a source of fond memories and we still meet at a picnic once a year to remember it. Does anyone on the net remember "Poznan"n Cleveland?

Great home page! I am looking for information on the "SZYPERSKI' and "GRUDZINSKI" families. My great grandfater "FRANCISZEK" was born in 1855 and his wife "ANIELA GRUDZINSKI" was born in 1863. I visited Poznan in August 91 and stayed with my penfriend, who is from there. I really enjoyed my stay, nice people everywhere and fantastic polish cooking! Great site!! My mother's family came from Poznan around 1902. I would like to establish contact with families named Jakiel who had a relative named John who emigrated to the US. My paternal grandfather was John Guzek who was born in Barzanawka in 1887 and arrived in the US in 1902. Does the town still exist by that name? I think it was in Galicia.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your home pages. I have often dreamed of visiting Poznan. My Grandfather (PETER PAUL ABRAMOWICZ) was born in Poznan (Pozen), June 25, 1878 or 1884? Peter Paul had 2 brothers (Valentine and Joseph, and 1 sister Matilda). Valentine came to America about 1923 or 1924. He married Maria Aloisya (Lukaszczyk) Parchanski, or Lukaseck (americanized version), after he came to America. She was born in Zavada, Austria. Peter Paul's family, of which there are many nephews and neices left, all settled in Centralia, Illinois, USA. I believe Grandfather went to Germany at age 16 to find work, then came to America early 1900's. He died in Centralia, Illinois August 26, 1939. If anyone could find a birth certificate for me, I would be eternally grateful and happy to pay for it, and for postage. I understand from my cousins in Illinois, that we still have cousins in Poland somewhere, though I do not know where. If anyone knows of anyone with these names, I would be most interested if they would contact me. I will visit Poznan on your web pages many more times in the future, so keep up the good work and I wish you the best that life has to offer. I bid you peace and God speed from the USA.

Hi! I'm searching for information about the family name Kierblewski, my great-grandfather immigrated from Poznan in the late 1800's. He was the only one of his family that came to the USA, we think he went to Michigan first and we think he probably came through Ellis Island in NY. I am researching the name Bydalek, or Badalik which may have originated in te Poznan region. I do know that my Great- Grandfather, Martin Bydalek emigrated from the region in 1878 to the Illinois of the midwest United States. His wife was Maryanne Gawrych who was born in 1875 and came over in 1889. Others in the family from the area who came over include George, b 1865, Joseph, born 1871, Joseph born in 1830, Michael, born 1883, and Jakob, born 1874.
