Networking

To bring up the Network option you must specify the type of link you have.

We strongly suggest you restart your computer in DOS mode before doing this,

since we have experienced problems running networking under windows 95.


IPX
___

To run Slam 'n Jam in with an ipx network, type:-

ipx

to bring start up the network drivers. Then type:-

slam -ipx <port number>

The port number can be any number between 1 and 65535. Make sure all players

on the network wanting to play use the same port number.


SERIAL
______

To run Slam 'n Jam with a serial cable, type:-

slam -com <port number>

where port number is the number of your serial port. (Usually 1 or 2)



			       Troubleshooting
			       ---------------

Windows 95
----------

Slam 'n Jam '96 is a DOS based game. On some computers it will run in a DOS

session under Windows 95. However, on other computers it won't. If you

experience problems we suggest you restart your computer is DOS mode.


Sound 
-----

If you do not get any sound check the blaster enviroment variable. Type set

from the DOS prompt. You should see a line something like this in the output.

BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H2

If not type

SET BLASTER=Axxx Iy Dz Hw

xxx is the port address
y is the interupt no (usually 5)
z is the dma channel
w is the high DMA channel

Consult the sound card manual for further information on these values.


Gravis Grip
-----------

This software will work with the Gravis Grip Multiport System.  If you have any other gamepad software installed on your computer, there may be conflicts when trying to use the Gravis Grip Multiport System.

The Gravis Grip Multiport System software must be installed on your PC.

In the Control Panel, double-click the Joystick option or the Gravis Joystick Applet option.

Set the controllers plugged into the multiport to "GRAVIS GAMEPAD" (Note: Do not set to Gravis Grip or Gravis Grip Multiport.)

The calibrate feature will not work properly but this is O.K.

While in Windows, the light on the Multiport will appear red.  Don't worry, this will change to green when the game starts.

Run Slam 'N Jam and choose Options.  Choose Configure Controls and set up your gamepads (If you need help with this please refer to the manual).

The Calibrate Joystick feature in Slam 'N Jam may not function properly but this is also O.K.

Begin a game and you are ready to win a championship.


DEMO VERSION
------------

When playing the Demo Version, you will only be able to play in 1-player Mode, for only two 2-minute quarters, with limited options, using only the Magic & Kareem All-Stars and Chicago teams in exhibition mode.
