Welcome to PCW Interactive! First we must apologise that the floppy cover disk has not been incorporeated on the CD-Rom this month. Due to early Christmas deadlines, we have had to prepare the January issue much sooner than usual, and the cover disk had not been finished when this CD-Rom was duplicated - but it will appear on the next issue. However, you may wish to check out the following directories on this disc, which contain the software planned to appear on this months floppy disk (chances are they WILL be the cover disk) : \DTA - Dave's Targa Animator. \LOWLEVEL - This month's 'Low Level' listings. \POLYRAY - The ENTIRE Polyray suite. (only the new files will be on the floppy). \ULTIMOD - Probably the best Windows Mod music file player, along with three great Mod files. Plus we have also included (just on the CD-Rom) the following: \POLYMORE - 17 new Polyray example GIFs and associated .PI files, for use with Polyray. At the last minute we also decided to include Oakley Data Services' Smart Font program in the following directory: \FONTS - 120 free TrueType fonts. With it you can view all your installed fonts at a glance. To install it in Windows, copy the files: FILE_ID.DIZ, SMARTFON.EXE and SMARTFON.HLP to a suitable directory on your hard disk. Or you can run the program directly from the CD. Please register this program if you continue to use it. Using PCW Interactive To use PCW Interactive all you need to do is finish a quick and simple setup procedure and an icon will then be created on your Program Manager Desktop, in a new group called "Personal Computer World". No files will be copied across by the installer unless you request the fast version of the program. When you run PCWI, you will be given the opportunity to install selected drivers and other files of your choice onto your PC. Once the Program Manager Group and icon have been created You can then run PCW Interactive by double clicking on the icon. If you wish you can drag and drop the icon into another group of your choosing and then erase the PCWI group. Note that if you DO keep a copy of the icon on your desktop you can save time in future as you will be able to use it to start any PCWI disc from issue 2 onwards, without needing to use the installer again. If you are reading this from inside the CD-Rom installer then Double click on the top-left close box to return to the setup program. Otherwise, double click the close box anyway and, to install PCWI, run the file SETUP.EXE (in this directory), using the Windows File Manager or |File|Run| from Program Manager. We hope you enjoy this issue of PCW Interactive...
