Ram raids vehicle recovery business 17 June
Ram Mobile Data, a wireless data company, has announced a major deal with Green Flag Breakdown, once of the UK's vehicle recovery companies, to offer Turbo Dispatch, a vehicle tracking and job dispatch system for UK organizations.

Vehicle tracking is nothing new in wireless terms, but using the Ram Mobitex system for two-way data exchange between an organization's headquarters and mobile staff in their cars is quite revolutionary, Newsbytes notes. According to Brian Hagan, Green Flag's national networks manager, the organization can now dispatch jobs in a matter of seconds from its Leeds headquarters.

Hagan claims that the vehicle recovery service marketplace is a highly competitive industry in the UK and that, because of this, speed of response is critical. "Turbo Dispatch has very clear customer service benefits," he explained. He added that the improved communications means that the company can dispatch the right resources to members much more quickly.

According to Ram, Turbo Dispatch is the only system on the market which uses mobile data to dispatch jobs to mobiles and provide two-way communication at each of the three stags -- between Green Flag, the service operators, and their recovery vehicles.

The Ram wireless data network now covers more than 87 percent of the UK population, using the Mobitex system, a system seen in several European countries, as well as in the US, where RAM has offices. According to Ram, it has spent more than รบ80 million on its UK network, and roaming facilities between country Ram networks is now available on request.
