CD-Rom drives .....

Many notebook CD-ROM drives are slower than desktop units. Make sure you get one which is at least double-speed and preferably quad-speed.

If you don't need the CD-ROM drive all the time, get one which can be detached and left behind as they add to the weight and reduce battery life.
