CYBERSPY

Service
This is much more like it. Although there's a passing resemblance to a stand of a large company at a computer exhibition - after all, this place is sponsored by IBM - it has the feel of one of Soho's newer trendy establishments, like Mezzo for example: all blond wood and chrome. And there's a lot of the capital's beautiful people hang out at Mezzo. I almost rubbed my hands in anticipation as I walked in.

Whereas at Cyberia the service is non-existent, here it is just passive. T-shirts still say 'I work here', but it's so much trouble to actually do it, isn't it? Don't they know this is a service-led society? I never have this trouble when I go to Mezzo.

I did get a jolly handy little booklet, courtesy of IBM of course, which did the intro job for me. I also thought I saw a bottle of Chardonnay in the fridge, so I was indignant when they said they didn't serve wine. What is the point of a cafe without wine? How are any of the punters going to summon up enough courage to chat anyone up?

I have yet to sit at one of the uncomfortable looking pods and have a go here. Although I've been into the place many times, there's either a private function about to start, or the server has been down. The nearest I have been to hyperspace in here is caffeine and nicotine overdose while Net-snooping.
