1.  About the Patch

This patch for FIFA RTWC 98 updates the AI and allows users to utilize the D3D functions of cards equipped with the ATI Rage PRO and nVidia Riva 128 chipsets.  You do not need to have one of these cards to utilize the updated AI.

AI improvements include:
-improved onside logic
-improved breakaway logic
-formation improvements
-CPU shooting logic improvements


2.  Installing the patch for FIFA Road To World Cup 98

Run FIFAV130.EXE - this extracts the updated files to the default install directory. (By default the install directory is 'Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98')

This will update the AI and includes two shortcuts, 'FIFA RTWC 98 (nVidia)' and 'FIFA RTWC 98 (ATI Rage PRO)' - you can copy these to your desktop from the FIFA RTWC 98 folder.  These shortcuts allow users to play the D3D-enabled version of the game.

Please note that all existing shortcuts will have the updated AI - you needn't run the D3D shortcuts included in the patch to get the updated AI.


3.  Using the D3D version of the game

This has been tested on and works with cards equipped with the ATI Rage PRO and nVidia Riva 128 chipsets.

To run the D3D version of the game double click the FIFA RTWC 98 shortcut that corresponds with the video card you have.

If FIFA RTWC 98 is installed to a directory other than the default directory, please follow these steps to play the D3D version of the game:
a.  Copy the appropriate shortcut (included in this patch - either (nVidia) or (ATI Rage PRO)) to the desktop.
b.  Right click on the shortcut.
c.  Click on 'PROPERTIES'
d.  Click on the 'SHORTCUT' icon.
e.  In the 'Target:' box, change the default directory to the installed directory
	ie, change "C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA RTWC 98\FIFARTWC.EXE" -D3D
		to
	    "{your installed directory}\FIFARTWC.EXE" -D3D
f.  In the 'Start in:' box, change the default directory to the installed directory
g.  Click OK
h.  Double click the shortcut to play FIFA RTWC 98 with the D3D enabled.


4.  3Dfx or PowerVR Users

If you have a 3Dfx or PowerVR based 3D accelerator, do not use the provided shortcuts or the -D3D option.


5.  Multiplayer Game Concerns

All players in a network or modem game must have same version of the game installed.  To prevent out-of-sync errors after the patch is installed, ensure that all participants in network or modem games have installed the patch.
