Minimum requirement for Windows 95: 12 Mb RAM. Recommended setup: Pentium, quad-speed CD-ROM drive, VESA compatible driver, SVGA video card & monitor. Supported sound cards: Sound Blaster and 100% compatibles, AWE32, AdLib, ESS AudioDrive, Ensoniq Soundscape, Gravis Ultrasound, Microsoft Sound System, Pro Audio Spectrum, Roland RAP-10. This demo supports all most popular SVGA video cards and any VESA compatible SVGA video card. VESA stands for Video Electronics Standards Association. This standard allows the graphics to be displayed on any video card that is VESA compatible without the need for the game's programmers to know precisely how each individual card works. If, when attempting to run the demo, you have some video problems, your video card probably needs a VESA driver loaded prior to playing. Consult the documentation and software that came with your video card on the loading of the driver, or contact your video card manufacturer. ************************************************************************* ************************************** HOW TO INSTALL ************************************** WINDOWS 95: - Insert the CD-ROM in the driver. - Go to the SYYRAH folder on the CD-ROM. - Click on the AUTORUN.EXE icon. MS-DOS: - Insert the CD-ROM in the driver. - Go to the SYYRAH directory on the CD-ROM. - Type INSTALL. The installation program will create the directory '\SYYRAH', where it willl copy all game files. Then the sound setup starts automatically. The simplest way to do it is the use of the autodetect facility. If it doesn't work, you have to set the sound card by selecting it in the menu and then you must set the Port, Dma, and Irq number. Be careful! If you select a sound card that is not present in your computer, it may lock-up, or the sound card may stop responding. Either of these situations may be corrected by turning off the computer, waiting few seconds and then turning it back on. ************************************************************************* ************************************** HOW TO PLAY ************************************** WINDOWS 95: - Insert the CD-ROM in the driver. - Go to the SYYRAH folder on the CD-ROM. - Click on the AUTORUN.EXE icon. MS-DOS Insert the CD-ROM in the driver, go to the Syyrah directory on your hard disk and then type SYYRAH. ************************************** The Game ************************************** Playing is very simple. You must destroy the mines to survive! But if you would like to score more points you have to plan carefully your moves. Hit a group of at least two mines, with a mine of the same colour. The score per mine destroyed grows quickly with the number of mines composing the group. If you destroy eleven mines you get the maximum score of 50.000 points. Thus, TRY TO BUILD ELEVEN MINES CLUSTERS!!! But be careful! Do not risk too much otherwise mines might reach you! To clear a level you have to destroy a given number of mines. In this demo version some game option are disabled, in the full version you will have all these options enabled. ************************************** One Player story mode - 2D ************************************** - Use left and right arrows to move the space ship, and the spacebar to shoot. If you have a joystick just move it left or right to move and use button 1 to shoot. You can use simultaneously joystick and keyboard. * Explanation of control panel: - The vertical indicator above in the control panel shows how far are you from clearing the level. The count down of the mines to destroy is showed in the center of the control panel. - The vertical indicator below shows lifes. - The pie clock shows the time before the current power up disappears. - The mine in the control panel shows you your next ammunition. ************************************** One Player story mode - 3D ************************************** There are two more controls to use when you play in 3D mode: Zoom and Azimut. To change the space ship azimut use the up and down arrows or move up and down the joystick. The Zoom in/out use the 'z' and 'x' keys or move up and down the joystick while pressing button 2. There are also more information in the control panel and in the H.U.D: - On the right of the cockpit there is an instrument showing azimut. - On the center of the cockpit there is a radar so you can take a look of the overall situation of the game. Here power-ups appear as blinking white spots, while super-bombs appear just as not binking white spots. - On the left border of the H.U.D. you have: the innermost level of mines, and below the next level of mines that is going to move down. - The current Zoom is showed in the right border of the H.U.D. - The spaceship heading is showed both in the radar and in the compass at the top of the H.U.D. When there are mines at the first level you can hear an alarm sound, and see a blinking danger light that shows you also the direction of the nearest "dangerous" mine. ************************************** Endless mode - 2D & 3D ************************************** Endless mode is very similar to story mode, but when you pass to the next level mines do not disappear from the screen. Therefore, you might start the new level with a lot of mines on the screen!!! Plan carefully every move otherwise you will not survive the second level!!!! ************************************** Scenario mode - 2D only ************************************** In the scenario mode you start each level with mines already placed on the screen. You have to clear completely the screen with a fixed set of ammunitions. If you waste all your ammunitions without clearing the screen you are dead! Try each scenario more and more till you solve it!! ************************************************************************* ************************************** HOW TO UNINSTALL ************************************** WINDOWS 95: - Insert the CD-ROM in the driver. - Go to the SYYRAH folder on the CD-ROM. - Click on the UNINSTAL.EXE icon. MS-DOS: Simply delete the SYYRAH directory. ************************************************************************* ************************************** SOUND CARD CONFIGURATION ************************************** (Both WINDOWS 95 and DOS) If you want to reconfigure your sound card, go into the SYYRAH directory and then type SETUP. ************************************** WINDOWS 95 TROUBLESHOOTING ************************************** If in MS-DOS mode or when you boot to a Windows 95 command prompt from the hard disk or a bootable floppy disk you are unable to access the CD-ROM drive, then you must load the real-mode CD-ROM driver in the Config.sys file and the MSCDEX driver in the Autoexec.bat or Dosstart.bat file. For information about how to obtain, install, or configure the real mode CD-ROM driver, consult the documentation included with the drive or contact the drive's manufacturer. Anyway if it's not possible to load the real-mode CD-ROM driver you can switch to a Windows 95 version of SYYRAH, by clicking the DOS_WIN.EXE ICON in the SYYRAH directory on the CD-ROM. This version is slightly slower than in a real DOS environment. You can improve game performance by going into the Settings option on the Windows 95 START menu, selecting CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM, PERFORMANCE, FILE SYSTEM and then CD-ROM. Here there is a menu by which you can enable read-ahead buffering of the CD-ROM (if it's not yet enable). Select the setting that matches your CD-ROM drive (2X, 4X etc.). You can also change the size of the buffer, usually the bigger this is the better the performance will be. Remember that you can switch again to the DOS version of SYYRAH, following the same procedure. ************************************************************************ PIXELSTORM DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES RELATING TO THIS SOFTWARE, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSLY AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMED.
