Using the Vector Scope and Waveform

To display the Vector Scope and Waveform so that you can check the color data of the picture in the timeline monitor, click the Vector Scope/Waveform button in the Timeline window.
The Vector Scope dialog appears.

The Vector Scope dialog can be expanded and reduced. At its largest, it displays parameters, the Vector Scope, and the Waveform. Clicking the V Close button reduces the dialog by hiding the Vector Scope. Clicking the W Close button reduces the dialog by hiding the Waveform.
By closing both the Vector Scope and Waveform, you can display only the parameters and the Select tool.

As color data, YUV, IRE, and RGB values are displayed for coordinate points (X,Y) on the screen.
To display the Vector scope, click the V Open button. To display the Waveform, click the W Open button.

To toggle the Vector Scope display

The Vector Scope displays the color distribution of the picture on the timeline monitor. Click the Shade button to display dots. Click the Line button to connect the dots with lines.

To toggle the Waveform display

The Waveform displays the chroma and luminance of the picture on the timeline monitor. Click the Chroma button to display the chroma, and click the IRE button to display the luminance.

To save the Vector Scope or Waveform display for a specific position

Click the Select tool check box to check it. Click the ... button, drag on the screen of the timeline monitor, and click at any point. The Y coordinate for that position appears in the box, and the Vector Scope and Waveform display are fixed with the color data of that position. You can also enter a Y coordinate directly in the box, without using the ... button.

Even if you remove the check from the check box, the most recently displayed Vector Scope and Waveform data is redisplayed when you next check the button.
