Applying Effects to Clips

You can use filters to apply special effects to video and audio, and to adjust color and picture quality. In addition to video and audio clips, filters can also be applied to transitions, audio cross fades, and title clips. Filters are also used to create keys.

To select a filter in the Effect palette.

Using video/audio filters

  1. Click the Palette button in the Timeline window to display the list.

  2. Click Effect Palette, checking it.
    You can also click Show All Palettes to display all of the palettes.



  3. In the Filter type selection area or Filter display area, click the icon for the video filter or audio filter that you want to use. A list of filters for the select type appears in the Filter display area.



  4. Select the filter to use and drag it onto an clip. You can drag as many filters as you like onto a single clip.
    A light blue line appears on an clip to which a filter has been applied.


To close the Effect palette

Click the Close button.
You can also click Hide All Palettes to close all of the palettes.
