Basic functions for modifying projects
To turn ripple mode on and off
When you move or delete clips on a track with ripple mode on, the clips linked to the moved or deleted clip move up to fill in the blank on other tracks.
To turn ripple mode on, click the Overwrite Mode/Insert Mode button to set the insert mode, click the list button and check Ripple Mode.
To switch between insert and overwrite mode
When you move a clip over another clip or place a new clip on the timeline clips, the clip that was originally in that position is either moved or overwritten, depending on whether EDIUS is in insert or overwrite mode. Use the Overwrite Mode/Insert Mode button to switch between insert and overwrite mode.
-
(Overwrite Mode)
Clips are placed in overwrite mode. If a clip already exists at the placement position, it is overwritten.
-
(Insert Mode)
Clips are placed in insert mode. If a clip already exists at the placement position, it is moved back to make room for the new clip.
To lock tracks
If insert mode is selected with ripple mode on, changing the clip configuration of a track may cause the length of clips on other tracks to change at the same time.
To prevent other tracks from being affected, click the track lock buttons on the track panel to turn them on.
