This ReadMe file contains important information that are not included in the User's Manual. Also, this file might contain information that are recently changed or enhanced. Please check this ReadMe before using it. Also, in certain cases copying is prohibited with no exceptions. In no event shall Canopus be liable for any direct or indirect damages whatsoever arising out of the use of captured materials. -WARRENTY------------------------------------------------------------- Regardless of whether negligence occurs during usage, the company assumes no liability, even if there is a claim, for extraordinary, incidental or derivative loss, including the loss of profits, that arise during practical application of this product. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (2) DV-MPEG file converter DV CODEC DV-MPEG file converter requires a Canopus DV CODEC Module to be installed. If a DV CODEC is not present in the system, a supplement file will be installed. This supplement file will allow DV-MPEG conversion, but since this supplement file is not registered as a CODEC, it will not be able to perform the following tasks: -Preview display in the image selection window -Playback of Canopus DV format AVI files Image files -AVI files must be 2GB or under for each file. For files larger that 2GB, please change to reference AVI files. -The AVI files supported are Canopus DV Format, Microsoft DV Format and Motion JPEG Format files. -Motion JPEG AVI files are required to be in 720 x 480 size. Audio -If there is no audio track in the AVI file, no audio will be generated. -If you are specifying a voice file separately, the duration needs to be close to that of the image file. Otherwise, there is a possibility of conversion errors. -The sampling frequency needs to be in the following : @32000Hz/44100Hz/48000Hz, 16bit, Stereo -For VideoCDs, the audio needs to be 44100Hz. -For GOP conclusion, the audio needs to be 48000Hz. Preview CPU power is required for preview during conversion. If conversion keeps failing, please try to disable preview. (3) Power management for Windows2000 and Windows XP Some systems are not stable in standby mode for Windows 2000 or Windows XP. If you can not return from shutdown, restart or standby mode, please try changing the power management settings to (b). If it still does not work, please try below (c). 1. Run MtvProp.exe in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, after you installed the driver. Go to TV Recording Manager - Set up - Property. 2. Chose Power Management tab in the property page. 3. Set up one of power management methods. The setting will be effective after restarting your OS. (a) Windows 2000 Operated as power policy owner defined in Windows 2000 Device Driver Kit (build 2195). (b) Windows 98 WDM Operated as power policy owner defined in Windows 98 Device Driver Kit(or Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 Device Driver Kit. (c) Disable PM Disable power management. (a) is selected as default. (4) Limitations Do not use display utilities, screen saver and power saving function during overlay. Intel Pentium U, Pentium V, Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon Processors have been tested. Operation on other processors are not guaranteed. To share IRQs with other devices, all sharing devices must support IRQ sharing. Depending on the CPU power and also the harddisk data transfer performance, capture might fail in high bitrates If the video signal is unstable, capture errors may occur.
