SCIENCE.ORG Presents transferRNA(TM) File Transfer Plug-in transferRNA(TM) Revolutionizes and Simplifies Peer-to-Peer File Transfer =========================================================================== ENCINITAS, California - SCIENCE.ORG is happy to present transferRNA, the solution to simple file transfer. The transferRNA plug-in you've just installed is a 32-bit plug-in that will work with Windows95 and WindowsNT. HOW transferRNA WORKS ==================================================================== transferRNA can be run by anyone who has access to the Internet and can run the Netscape Navigator Web browser. transferRNA currently works as an inline plug-in in the Netscape Navigator Web browser. Inline plug-ins are one of Netscape’s newest developments that let executable programs run within the browser window. The free transferRNA software can be downloaded from the following Web site. You can find additional and updated information at this Web site. http://www.science.org/transferRNA/ Once the transferRNA program has been downloaded and installed the necessary transferRNA files must be located in your Navigator plugin directory for the plugin to work successfully. PEER-TO-PEER File Transfer =========================================================================== To activate the transferRNA simply load the trna.htm document which contains an embed tag that references a .RNA file. The transferRNA plug-in will then activate. Both the sender and recipient must be connected over a TCP/IP network or the Internet, and be running the transferRNA inline plug-in. Here is the step-by-step procedure to send a file using transferRNA. · The sender chooses the file to send by selecting the Choose File option. · The sender then enters the IP address or domain name of the recipient. · Finally the sender selects the Send File option and the file is sent to the recipient. · The recipient only has to wait to receive the file, and then copy it from the temporary directory to any location on their computer system. Providing transferRNA on a Web Page ============================================================================= You can also include tranferRNA on your Web page. Before you can do this you must make sure that your Web server supports the transferRNA MIME type. If you have access to the Web server software you should follow the following instructions. Otherwise, send them to either your system administrator or Internet service provider asking them to update their Web server's supported MIME types. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - NOTICE OF NEW MIME TYPE - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Web server software (HTTP server) has a file called mime.types. Modify this file to include a new application MIME type. Add an additional line to this file that looks like this: application/x-transferRNA rna The "application" is the primary MIME type. x-transferRNA is the secondary MIME type. The "rna" is the .rna file extension. If your HTTP server uses a different file to keep track of MIME types, follow the format used in that file to add this MIME type. Save the file, and if required, restart the HTTP server. The tranferRNA MIME type will now be supported. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To add transferRNA into your Web page you must add an tag into your HTML that looks like this: Save your Web page. From now on, anyone who accesses your Web page will either see the transferRNA plug-in or a notice that they need to download a new plug-in.
