Frequently Asked Questions Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions about StyleMaker. Please read through this page before approaching us with a query.
I am getting Error 31037 - File Not Found. The Internet Explorer ActiveX control, or one of the controls shipped with StyleMaker, is not correctly entered into the system registry. To solve this problem, click on the Start button, then Run, and type in: REGSVR32 SHDOCVW.DLL Click OK, and you should get a message that says "DllRegisterServer in shdocvw.dll successful". Try and run the program again. If this does not work, try: REGSVR32 COMDLG32.OCX If this does not work, then instead of running STYLE32.EXE, run STYLE32I.EXE. Two versions of the program are included, and reside in the directory you installed StyleMaker (eg, C:\Program Files\Style).
Why does StyleMaker take so long to load? When you click on StyleMaker in the start menu, you are not just loading our software. You are also loading Microsoft Internet Explorer (if you have it installed), and the homepage you last loaded in StyleMaker. This also explains why the load time variates.
Is StyleMaker available for Windows 3.x? Currently, no. StyleMaker only runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT 3.51 or higher. If we find enough demand for a 16 bit version, we will release one in the future.
Why are there two preview windows? There are two preview windows because simply having the Preview Browser would mean that people with slow systems, or large HTML documents with multimedia extensions would have to wait for excessive periods of time every time the document is refreshed. Having the Item Previewer allows you to view each Item of your style sheet individually, and it is always instantly refreshed, no matter how large the sheet or HTML document.
What's the deal with StyleMaker....is it free? No. We'd love to be able to give everyone in the world a copy of the program gratis, but the sad truth is that we have to make money to continue to update the program. The program is what is known as a 'trial limit demo', whereby you are permitted to use it a certain amount of times before you decide whether or not you want to purchase it. It is more commonly known as shareware, as you can give a copy of the trial to all of your friends so they can try it too. After the trial period, if you decide you want to continue using it, then you need to buy a copy of the program. This can be done securely over the Internet. By purchasing StyleMaker, you not only become a good netizen, but you are helping to support the shareware concept, and helping us to develop new and exciting products, and update existing ones.
I am not comfortable sending my credit card number over the Internet. Is there another way to pay? Yes, there is, but it is not necessary to be paranoid about the Net. Our payment processor uses secure SSL encryption when sending your payment across the Internet. Only the payment processor knows how to decrypt it. Alternatively, you can pay by check, money, or credit card via email, fax, or snail mail if you wish. You can even have a receipt mailed back to you if you want.
I try to press the Save button above the Preview Browser when using StyleMaker, but nothing happens. Why? When your homepage is saved, you are not prompted that it has been done so. If you want to make sure the page was saved, simply load up a text editor, such as notepad, and check the style sheet (the text between the <STYLE> and </STYLE> tags) is there.
So far, these are the most commonly questions asked about StyleMaker. If you have a different problem, please email us. |
