CD Label template files for PC: GENERAL NOTES: These templates are designed for ease of use with most major art packages. Users should familiarise themselves with these packages and have their User's guides handy. When using graphic images that are meant to cover the entire label, it is best to extend the image beyond the actual border of the label, or "bleed" the image. This will ensure proper coverage. When printing from these templates, it may be necessary to change the portrait/landscape setting in "page setup" to accomodate your printer. Templates are provided for A4 sizes for the following software packages. A full description of how to use them is provided below: --Illustrator versions 3, 5 and 6; A4 -- ADOBEA4.EPS ADOB5A4.EPS ADOB6A4.EPS Letter -- ADOB3LET.EPS ADOB5LET.EPS ADOB6LET.EPS --CorelDraw! versions 5 and 6; A4 -- CORL5A4.CDR CORL6A4.CDR Letter -- CORL5LET.CDR CORL6LET.CDR --Freehand version 3 and 5; A4 -- FRHNDA4.FH3 FRHNDA4.FH5 Letter -- FRHNDLET.FH3 FRHNDLET.FH5 --PageMaker versions 5 and 6; A4 -- PGMKRA4.PM5 PGMKRA4.PM6 Letter -- PGMKRLET.PM5 PGMKRLET.PM6 --QuarkExpress A4 -- QRKEXA4.QXD Letter -- QRKEXLET.QXD --MSWord for Windows A4 -- WORDA4.DOC Letter -- WORDLET.DOC In the event your software version is not supported, simply use the next lower version. ************************************************************* HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN TEMPLATES The templates supplied are designed for use with most laser and inkjet printers. Due to the mechanical nature of printers it is difficult to gurantee that all the templates will align perfectly on the first try. It may be necessary to adjust the image in your design document to ensure proper alignment. If you wish to create your own template or modify a template, the following information will be useful. Set the page/paper size to landscape A4 or US Letter to match that of your label stock then draw: Front label for CD jewel case Box 118mm wide x 45mm deep at a position 24.5mm across and 10mm down from the top left corner of the page. (15.7mm & 13mm for US Letter size). ----------------------- Spine label for CD jewel case Box 118mm wide x 7mm deep at a position 24.5mm across and 65mm down from the top left corner of the page. (15.7mm & 68mm for US Letter size) ----------------------- CD labels Outer circle 118mm diameter & inner circle 41mm diameter whose centres are at a position 83.5mm across and 141mm down from the top left corner of the page. (74.7mm & 144mm for US Letter size). Both labels are then repeated with the positional dimensions relative to the bottom right hand corner of the page. *************************************************************** NOTES ABOUT THE TEMPLATES PROVIDED -- Illustrator versions 3, 5 and 6; A4 -- ADOBEA4.EPS ADOB5A4.EPS ADOB6A4.EPS Letter -- ADOB3LET.EPS ADOB5LET.EPS ADOB6LET.EPS The Illustrator templates contain guide lines on a separate layer. They do not print and can not be edited. Simply place your artwork within the guidelines and print. Due to some changes to Illustrator 6 you may experience some difficulty aligning final prints. Please consult your manual. --------------------------------------------------------------- -- CorelDraw! versions 5 and 6; A4 -- CORL5A4.CDR CORL6A4.CDR Letter -- CORL5LET.CDR CORL6LET.CDR The guide lines will not print and neither can they be edited. You may use the text fields provided or place your own text and graphics objects within the guide lines. If when printing the image area is offset to the label, then adjust the top and/or left measurements in the Image Position & Size field. This is found under the Layout section of Options in the Print Dialogue Box. ---------------------------------------------------------------- --Freehand version 3 and 5; A4 -- FRHNDA4.FH3 FRHNDA4.FH5 Letter -- FRHNDLET.FH3 FRHNDLET.FH5 The Freehand templates contain guide lines that are on a separate layer. They do not print and can not be edited. This template is provided with guidelines on one layer and a mask on another layer. The guide lines indicate the edges of the labels, while the mask allows for image bleeding. The guide lines must be deleted before printing. To see the mask, open the "layers pallet" by selecting "windows", "pallets", "show layers". Switch to "channels" and click on the space to the left of "work layer mask". This will show the mask. YOU MUST DELETE THE GUIDE LINES BEFORE PRINTING. On the layers pallet, select "guides - "delete before printing" layer by clicking anywhere on that line. Then click on the arrow pointing to the right on the upper right side of the layer pallet and select delete layer. NOTE: When placing work in the work layer, ensure that The blank page (left thumbnail) on the work layer (second line of the layers pallet) is selected, not the label layout thumbnail on the right or you risk modifying the mask. -------------------------------------------------------------- -- QuarkExpress A4 -- QRKEXA4.QXD Letter -- QRKEXLET.QXD The guide is locked and can not be edited. Simply place your text and graphics within the guides and print. -------------------------------------------------------------- --MSWord for Windows A4 -- WORDA4.DOC Letter -- WORDLET.DOC The label area is shown by guide lines, which under default settings will not be visible against the white page. To view the actual label area, from the 'Tools' menu select 'Options', then select 'General' and check 'Blue Background, White Text'. The guide lines will not be printed. Remember to reset the 'Options' after printing your labels. The position of all the objects are relative to the page margins. If the image area is slightly offset to the label when printing then adjust the margins accordingly under 'Page Setup' until they are aligned. To include graphics, import your image and then enclose it in a frame by selecting the graphic in Word document and then selecting 'insert' 'frame' from the menu options. You may then place the graphic frame anywhere on the document. ****************************************************************
