With the "Shutdown" menu item in the Desktop's context menu you can initiate the Extended Shutdown procedure which is provided by XFolder.

By shutting down your system all sensitive data in your system memory will be permanently stored to disk before you can switch off your computer. This also ensures that the settings of your Workplace Shell will be saved. It is absolutely neccessary to always perform this procedure before you switch off your computer, because otherwise some of your data might get lost.

The XFolder Extended Shutdown provides a few extra features over OS/2's regular shutdown procedure, such as automatically rebooting your computer and being able to cancel the shutdown procedure. Please see the XFolder Online Reference for details.

In the XShutdown confirmation window, which appears after selecting the "Shutdown" menu item, you may enable the "Reboot afterwards" setting to automatically reboot your computer after shutdown has completed. When this setting is enabled, you can select a reboot action from the drop-down box on the right.

"Standard" will simply reboot your computer.

If you have defined additional custom reboot actions on the "XDesktop" page of the Desktop's settings notebook, these may also be selected here.

If you deselect the "Show this message next time" setting, confirmations will be disabled for eXtended Shutdown and WPS restarts. You can then re-enable the confirmations in the Desktop's settings notebook on the "XDesktop" page.

You can re-enable OS/2's original shutdown procedure on the "XDesktop" page in the Desktop's settings notebook.
