Last note! A few hours after this page went on the Net I got a email
of somebody that reported that the protocol worked with Fixpak 15!
More people please give feedback. It for instance works with the latest
xf86sup.sys.
BEFORE DOWNLOADING, PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE PAGE!
Well you may ask why the need for a PPtP protocol for OS/2 ? In Windows N.T. 4.0 it was used quite much but in W2K its not a mainstream protocol as far as I know. The trouble is that some TV-cable internet providers use PPtP, also the Dutch KPN uses PPtP for there ADSL network. If I understood it correctly a ADSL provider in Austria also uses it.
In March 2000 Christoph Theis (from Austria) posted a message on usenet
asking for beta testers for his PPtP port for OS/2.
I'm a member of the Dutch OS/2 user group and I have received some
questions about getting OS/2 going with ADSL. Around December 2000 I started
searching the internet for PPtP support for OS/2 / eCS.
I bumped into the posting of Christoph Theis via deja.com (big usenet archive). I asked him if I could have the sources. His primary OS has been become Windows N.T. and development on the PPtP protocol has been stopped more or less...
I don't have ADSL here so I can't test it, we need to work together to get it going. So people who download it, please let me know what works and what does not work! (See emailadres at bottom of page!)
One person has tested this version of the PPtP protocol. He has been
able to use it on a Warp 4 machine with a fixpak below number 13.
It functioned, but could not get NAT going. He later tried it on a
WSeB (Aurora Server), this kernel is now in fixpak 13 and higher, Convience
pack and eCS (eComStation). On his WSeB machine the xf86sup.sys, did load,
but when he tried to the connect with the machine it trapped. When the
first beta of WSeB came out I tried the xf86sup.sys to try and install
BOCHS under OS/2, however it trapped at startup. Based on these two experiences
I'm afraid the PPtP protocol will not work on fixpak 13 and higher.
A) The installation is not really user friendly
B) If you are using fixpak 13 or higher or Warp 4, WSeB , Convience
Pack or eCS (eComStation). You may end up with a trap.
This has to with the fact that the XF86SUP.SYS which
is included is an old version.
C) NAT is not working. So the limitation here is that you can't connect more then one computer.
First of all you need the EMX runtime library click
here to get latest version
Look in the EMXRT.ZIP for installation instructions.
And not to forget the protocol it self Click
here to download version 1.00 of the PPtP protocol.
(Instructions how to install in ZIP file.
To note again I have not been able to test it my self. If somebody could
write some better instructions get it going and send them to me...
So installation is user unfriendly!
If you are running fixpak 13 or higher, WSeB, Convience Pack or eCS
(eComStation) and get a TRAP.
You can TRY the latest version of the xf86sup.sys.
If it will work I don't know. The TRAP will gone.
If however the PPtP will function I'm afraid not. If this is the case,
please send me an email!!!!
You install the driver by including the statement device=(driveletter):\(directoryname)\xf86sup.sys
in your
config.sys.
Since this protocol is very new we need each others help to solve problems. I have put up a mailing list at yahoogroups (formerly known as egroups).
The following simple rules apply on this list.
1. No racism on this list of any kind is tolerated!
2. No links, files or discussions that have do with pornography and especially not with children pornography!
3. Respect each other and communicate in normal way and don't start a "war" here about something that somebody does wrong!

Well I hope somebody will step forward and see if he or she can patch
up the XF86SUP driver.
So that:
A) Most important, it can start functioning on fixpak 13 or higher (WSeB).
B) NAT can start working

This zipfile contains all the sources of the ported PPtP Linux stuff,
the patched XF86SUP.SYS and the sources of the xf86sup.sys,
version 1.511 which does work on fixpak 13 or higher.
