═══ 1. Help for Printer Properties ═══ This dialog allows you to change various attributes that the printer. will use to print your job. The following attributes can be set or changed: o The number of uncollated copies of each page to print. o Paper size; A4, letter and so on. o Paper feed methods; by a manual feed or from an automatic paper cassette tray. o The page orientation; portrait or landscape. The control buttons allow you to save the attributes you have selected or cancel your selections. ═══ 2. Help for Copies ═══ This option lets you specify the number of copies of each page you want to print up to a maximum of 99. The copies printed will be uncollated. For example, if you specify 3 copies, you will get 3 copies of the first page followed by 3 copies of the second page, and so on. ═══ 3. Help for Choosing Forms ═══ The form is the size of the paper you want to use for printing. The size is usually given in terms of a standard name for that size, for example A4 or Letter. The form is linked to the paper feed method. ═══ 4. Help for Paper tray ═══ You may choose the paper tray you wish to use by selecting one of the two choices available, manual feed or from an automatic paper cassette tray. The tray selection is linked to the forms selection. Selecting a paper tray will automatically select the size of paper that was last selected for that tray. This allows you to use the cassette for one size of paper and the manual feed for another size of paper. Just selecting the tray will then give you the appropriate paper size also. When using manual feed the printer may prompt you to insert paper in the manual feed slot. ═══ 5. Help for Orientation ═══ You may choose the orientation of the print job by selecting either the portrait or the landscape options. These options are mutually exclusive and cannot be mixed in the same print job. ═══ 6. Saving Selections ═══ OK will save your selections. If you displayed this dialog from the Print Manager, OK will save your selections as the default job properties for applications that do not display this dialog. If you displayed this dialog from an application, OK will save your selections, either for the current print job or as the default for the application. The application determines if the change is just for the current print job or the application default. ═══ 7. Canceling Selections ═══ The CANCEL button will cancel the selections you have made and return you to the panel from which you invoked the printer properties dialog panel. ═══ 8. Getting Help ═══ The HELP has the same function as the F1 key. It provides context sensitive help for the printer properties dialog. Just activate the field you need help with, using the mouse or the tab key, and then click on the HELP button or press the F1 key. From the displayed help text you can get to any other help for this dialog. ═══ 9. About the Driver ═══ Click on the ABOUT button to give some brief information on the driver software. ═══ ═══ A job is the printer's unit of work. It consists of a set of one or more pages which contain the information to be printed. The information may be textual or graphical. ═══ ═══ Portrait is an orientation whereby what would be considered the width of the page is less than the height. This is similar to most portrait paintings. ═══ ═══ Landscape is an orientation whereby what would be considered the width of the page is greater than the height. This is similar to most landscape paintings. ═══ ═══ The manual feed will be either a single sheet feed or a pull down tray that will allow a small number of sheets to be stacked. See the printer documentation for more details. ═══ ═══ The paper cassette is optional on some printers, standard on others. A large number of sheets can be stacked in the cassette allowing the printer to run for a long period before needing to be restocked with paper. You may have a supply of cassettes holding different sizes of paper.
