Clearlook(tm) Word Processor Installation Notes (INSTALL.TXT) for Clearlook 1.7 Update Kit June 1996 The Clearlook 1.7 Update Kit is designed to update an installed copy of Clearlook 1.1 or 1.5 to Version 1.7. This file only contains information about installation of the Update Kit. You should also consult the Release Notes (README.TXT) for more information about Clearlook 1.7 before you install the update. Update Kit Flavors Note that the Upgrade Kit comes in two distinct flavors, with and without the User's Guide and Supplement files in Clearlook format. (These files are new to Clearlook 1.7 and not included in earlier versions -- for more information, see the Release Notes.) The kit without these additional files is smaller (and thus faster to download electronically). If you are trying to identify one kit from another, the typical names under which the kits are found are: CLUP17.ZIP Lite Upgrade Kit CLUP17F.ZIP Full Upgrade Kit (with documentation files) Another way to tell the kits apart is that the full kit contains the DOCS.TXT file (and other files) which the lite kit does not. Should you desire to add the documentation files at a later time, you can install the full kit over the lite kit or just install the "documentation" kit (CLDOC17.ZIP). If you are trying to decide between the two kits, we recommend you start with the lite kit (CLUP17.ZIP) and add the documentation kit (CLDOC17.ZIP) later if you want to take a look at these (rather large) documents in their original form. Installation Instructions To install the update, just run the INSTALL program found in the same directory (or on the same diskette) as this file. Then follow the instructions which appear. You should fill in the Install To and Create Directory fields with the drive and directory where your original copy of Clearlook is installed. Note that the installation program does not check for a previously installed copy. If you install the update in a different location, you will be able to use it, but spell checking will not work since the necessary files (from the BIN\LNG directory) are not included in the update kit. If you install the update and do not have a valid Clearlook license, the update kit will act the same as the Clearlook Working Model except that spell checking will not be available. Of Interest to Beta Users If you are using a Beta copy of an earlier Clearlook, you may wish to install the update kit separately (or over a non-Beta copy). While all of your Clearlook files are compatible with Version 1.7, not all features and functions available in earlier Beta versions are necessarily supported in Version 1.7.
