This situation can be identified by receiving a "Can't play selected sound" error from the Control Panel Sounds applet. IBM has informed me that this is a known problem (APAR PJ16129), and that they "are working on it." SoundWorks remedies this situation until IBM can find the cause and an adequate solution. INSTALLATION If you are upgrading from an earlier version, you need to first remove the currently installed version and restart Windows. 1. Start Control Panel in a seamless Win-OS/2 session. Note that SoundWorks cannot be installed in a full-screen session or under DOS. 2. Start the "Drivers" applet. 3. Click the "Add..." button. 4. Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" and click "OK". 5. When prompted for the disk, specify the name of the drive or directory containing the bundled files, OEMSETUP.INF and SNDWORKS.DRV, and click "OK". 6. Select "SoundWorks 1.0a" and click "OK". 7. Restart Windows. (Note that Control Panel will modify your Windows' SYSTEM.INI file.) VERSION HISTORY 1.0a Bug: Norton Desktop 3.0's Quick Access menu not responding properly to right-mouse button in regular Windows. Fix: Detect type of Windows session; close immediately if not seamless Win-OS/2. Bug: Seamless Win-OS/2 session does not close. Fix: Add PAS16's MMMIXER.DLL to auto-close routine. Bug: Previously installed message filters not called; some CD-ROM and modem applications not functioning correctly. Fix: Add code to call previously installed message filters.
