Additional Information Sound Galaxy (Basic Audio 16) OS/2 Device Driver Please note that Multimedia Presentation Manager (MMPM/2) must be installed before installing the Sound Galaxy Audio Driver. For first time installation of MMPM/2, refer to section A. If there is existing MMPM/2, please refer to section B to de-install other sound card drivers before installing Sound Galaxy Audio driver. A. Installation of Multimedia Presentation Manager (MMPM/2) ======================================================= I. If installing MMPM/2 from diskettes in drive A : 1. Open Drive A. 2. Select MINSTALL.EXE. II. If installing MMPM/2 from CD-ROM drive : 1. Open OS/2 System. 2. Open Command Prompts. 3. Open either OS/2 Full Screen or OS/2 Window. 4. Change to the drive letter that represents the CD-ROM drive and go to the MMPM/2 subdirectory. 5. Type "MINSTALL" and press Enter. 6. Select "Software Motion Video" feature and other feature if the corresponding hardware is present. For e.g, select CD-Audio if a CD-ROM drive is present. 7. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the installation. Refer to the OS/2 Installation Guide for more information. 8. Shut down and reboot the system after installation is completed. 9. To install Sound Galaxy Audio Driver, refer to section C for the procedures. B. De-installation of Other Audio Drivers ====================================== 1. Select from the Multimedia folder. 2. Select the same sound card features as those you have installed during the previous MMPM/2 installation. 3. When asked how many adapters you want to install, select "0" and continue with driver installation. This is to de-install any previous OS/2 audio driver. (Refer to the README file under MMPM2 sub-directory or Multimedia Presentation Manager/2 disk #1 for details in de-installing an Audio Adapter) 4. Shut down and restart the system. 5. Go on to section C for installing the Sound Galaxy OS/2 Audio driver. C. Installation of the Sound Galaxy OS/2 Audio driver ================================================== 1. Select from the Multimedia folder. 2. Insert Sound Galaxy OS/2 Audio Driver Diskette in drive A: or B:. 3. Change the source drive in where the Sound Galaxy OS/2 Audio Driver diskette is. (i.e. A:\ or B:\). 4. Highlight "Sound Galaxy" feature and then select "Install". 5. Select "YES" in "Change CONFIG.SYS" dialog box and continue with driver installation. 6. Select "1" when the system prompts you to select the number of Sound Card. 7. It is recommended that you use the default settings when the Sound Galaxy sound card Installation screen appears. 8. System will then update the CONFIG.SYS file, and please follow the screen instructions to continue the installation. 9. Shut down and reboot the system after installation is completed. D. Installation of OS/2 For Windows Audio Driver ============================================= 1. Open the WIN-OS/2 folder from the OS/2 SYSTEM COMMAND PROMPTS folder. 2. Open the CONTROL PANEL from the WIN-OS/2 MAIN Group. 3. Double click on the DRIVERS icon. 4. Choose the "ADD" button to add a new driver. 5. Highlight the "Unlisted or Updated Driver" item and then select the "OK" button. 6. Enter the drive and the path (i.e A:\WIN_OS2) in the Install Driver windows and then select "OK" button. 7. Highlight the "16-bit Audio Driver" in the list windows and press "Enter" to continue. 8. Use the default setting in 16-bit Audio Board setup windows. 9. Select "Restart Windows Now" to restart the Windows in order for the added driver to take effect. ------------ The End -------------
