the 'Auslandskursbuch' of the German Railway

This is one of the needfullst things you should have with you. Every european country with the main railway lines and time tabels are presented. It is important when you plan your trip and you want to see where you can go. If there is a night train, or find the shortest way.sbuch' is available in every german railway staiton at a price of 15 DM. There are a summer version (1.6. to 27.9.) and a winter version (rest of time). I think a kind of 'Auslandskursbuch' should be available in every European country. If not, you can mail me and we can talk about it that I will send you one via post.

Mostly you can get a reduction for ferries of bus and so on in case your Interrail-ticket won't work. And by the way it's nice to have such a colored funny plastic card...a joke... You can get it in every university or school.

This passport is a very needfull thing. You allways save money using a hostel and sometimes you can't use a hostel without this passport. So buy it, you will need it. Here you can go to the IYHA.

bargain in an outdoor store

In an outdoor store you can mostly bargain. They are often very nice people and when they see that you are a poor student, they will give you everything a littel bit cheaper, or some older things for example to a nicer price. Try it !!!
