 "Freefall" Written by Michael Berk
Mitch goes sky-surfing with Matt, but when Mitch's parachute doesn't open, he finds himself plummeting to his death, his life flashing before his eyes. Meanwhile, CJ starts dating a pro football player, but the tabloids turn their relationship into a living nightmare. Despite his fear of heights, Mitch allows himself to be talked into going sky-surfing with Matt. Sky-surfing is much like skydiving, except it also involves a kind of surfboard that one uses to ride air currents. Stephanie is concerned for Mitch's safety, but Mitch looks forward to the adrenaline rush. Unbeknownst to CJ, her new boyfriend is superstar pro football quarterback Michael Gardner. The first time they go out, they are accosted from all sides by tabloid photographers, who follow them everywhere. The paparazzi are starting to threaten CJ's ability to do her job, which in turn threatens the lives of beachgoers in peril. Stephanie is annoyed at CJ for not realizing the cost of dating a celebrity, but she is more frustrated with the constant barrage of photographers on the beach. Eventually, CJ will have to decide what is more important to her--Michael or lifeguarding. Though extremely nervous, Mitch finally makes the drop from the airplane, and in learning to control the sky-surfboard, he forgets the incredible heights at which he is doing this. That is, until he pulls the ripcord for the parachute... and nothing happens. Mitch tries pulling the cord for the backup parachute, and again, nothing happens. In a desperate attempt to save Mitch, Matt dives in order to catch him, but he is unable to reach Mitch in time. Now, Mitch finds himself plummeting toward the ocean, with slim chance of survival, as his life starts flashing before his eyes.
