The one thing all the girls seem to find essential to their wardrobes and instantly updates an outfit is a pair of calf-high lace-up boots. These are worn with everything, leggings, mini-skirts and calf-length skirts.

70's style leather jackets, the type with the big collars, are being worn by male and female. These jackets are usually bought at a second-hand shop. They are worn with jeans or narrow trousers.

A typical outfit for a younger girl: black 40 denier tights, a pair of "Mary Janes" in black leather, a pleated or A-line wrap skirt and a sweatshirt. Another choice of top is a white shirt worn under a cropped sweater. The whole outfit except the shirt is in black or some other dark colour.

Leggings are still favourite for some, although the oversized shapeless tops have been replaced by closer fitting tunics or long vests.

Go into a pub or nightclub and most of the guys look casually smart in suits - double-breasted in plain fabric being the most popular. The suits are worn with a polo shirt, either buttoned right up or the top button left undone.

Another look for the younger set: leggings, lace-up boots in leather with 1 1/2" stacked heels, white shirt under a dark V-neck or crew neck cropped sweater.
