The city of Munich requires that all mineral water, beer and milk be sold only in returnable bottles.
Meanwhile, the Australian Government's permanent Industry Commission has found that the energy and water expended in the collection and cleaning of returned bottles could be up to 15 times higher than that required to make new bottles.
