Recycling with worms

Info from Tranet newsletter No 60 (address details above).

The small rural town (population 1,100) of Morton, Washington, USA, has instituted a vermiculture composting system, fuelled by specially-bred worms, which changes food, sludge and yard-waste into high quality top soil. Besides saving the town $10,000 annually, the recycling programme removes approximately 35 per cent of the volume going to the landfill.
