Six pounds a week to save woodland

The Dandelion Trust has set up up an imaginative scheme to save an ancient woodland. The wood costs L58,000, of which Mercury Provident are lending the Trust L50,000, against the guarantee of people covenanting money over four years. Many people are covenanting or donating around L6 pw or more or less. This is a way for people without capital to donate money to save the deciduous woods in South Devon, and is an idea that could be carried out further into other areas of conservation.

More help is needed and all donations are very welcome.

The Dandelion Trust, 17 Rookfield Avenue, London N10 3TS (tel 071 833 2124).
