With the help of a $15,000 video laser, viewers watching a video on 'Shotgun Wounds to the Abdomen' can guide a staff of nurses and technicians through a simulation of emergency procedures to save a boy's life. If the viewer fails to administer the proper care, the patient dies on screen.
This film was one of over 400 entries in a medical film festival put on by the John Muir Memorial Hospital in Walnut Creek, California.
'For some surgical procedures, there is no better way to teach than on film,' says festival director Chip Bissell.
