The Sacred in Homoeopathy

Man,according to Tao, has contradicted the natural order of things. This contradiction is verified throughout religious philosophy as man moves further from the spirit of the univeral source of creation.

Tempted to believe he can change the course of things and force his will upon nature, in nearly all his attempts, what man has in reality achieved has been to cause harm and disharmony in nature and ultimately to himself. By divorcing himself from the elemental natural energies that feed the most sacred parts of himself man is suffering from spiritual, emotional and physical malnutrition.

The process of homoeopathy, pharmacutically accessing the sacred essence of a substance, gently and effectively leads man back to re-covering an awareness of his essential being and re-opens the routes he has closed to recognising his own soul essence. Locked in linear time and the routines of our culture, modern man makes little space in his life to sink deeply enough into himself to unlock and step into his own inner temple of the subconscious. Within this temple burn the temple fires that contain the source spark of our existence and all of creation.

This spark must be constantly tended, fed and nurtured so it may burn brightly and steadily. The homoeopathic remedy re-kindles the wavering or dying flame, connecting man back to the centre of himself and to all existence.

By calling forth the homoeopathic simillimum ( Law of similars) one calls forth the pure essential something that, in its own way, contains only its form essence and that essence can only be found in a world beyond concrete ideas. The process of potentisation reaches from the actual substance, the material, into the symbolic signature of the substance touching the realms of the person where the disease disturbance originates long before any physical symptons may manifest.

Cut off from our sacred selves we treat ourselves with disrespect, eating badly, artificially stimulating the nervous system, forcing our natural body rhythmns, to enable ourselves to achieve more in less time. We drain our precious physical resources until we have moved so far away from our awareness of who we are and why we exist. Becoming angry and destructive with ourselves we take out our frustrations on those close to ourselves and the very things around us that would re-create our world into a beautiful and nurturing place to live. We become closed to recognising the beauty within ourselves and the beauty in all that surrounds us. We have lost contact with the Sacred.

Sacer, the Latin root of sacred means both 'holy' and 'taboo', 'not to be violated! The relationship between the holy and the forbidden is very close. To eat the forbidden fruit from the sacred tree of knowledge may in certain terms lead us away from the divine innocence but closer towards an understanding and appreciation of our own evolution.

Exploration and acknowledgement of the dark aspects of our nature brings a greater brilliance to the light aspects of our soul. Within the proving of every homoeopathic substance the soul of that substance surrenders its potential darkness and brilliance as a sacred healing energy. Among the latent properties of many substances such as Aurum (gold), Natrum Munaticum (salt), Arsenicum Album (arsenic), are the means to alleviate chronic depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

These substances have offered themselves in sacred trust to be used medicinally with respect and care. They have given away the secrets of their souls, for every substance as with every sentient being, however material they might appear, has a sacred dimension. The complex technology employed in the preparation of drugs even those derived from naturally occuring substances not only renders them highly toxic to the human organism and the environment but also kills the soul of that substance in the process. Homoeopathic preparation is both safe and harmless rendering non-toxic doses and gently releasing the essence of the substance.

Any medical practitioner with a love for their art stands as a guardian of the sacred dimensions of that art. Every substance potentised homeopathically is held in awe and respect and every client who approaches for treatment is a soul seeking expression. It is the responsibility of the practitioner to honour their client and treat every word spoken and unspoken with respect.

The role of the homoeopath is that of a compassionate, objective listener stepping out of the techniques of involvement employed in psychotherapy or counselling. The homoeopath holds the healing space for the expression, questioning when necessary, taking each valid sympton as an expression of the individual's soul. Symptoms are then sifted and sorted into a hierarchy then matched to the appropriate homoeopathic simillimum to redress the balance of the 'dis-ease'.

It is the role of the homoeopath to hold the healing space clearly enough for the client to trust that they will be heard, trust enough to allow themselves a glimpse of their own soul essence and once more be open enough to recognise the beauty that they are and the passion that stirs the essential sacredness of themselves.
