Working Group for the History of Astronomy

in the Astronomische Gesellschaft

A Working Group for the History of Astronomy has been founded during the Annual Meeting of the Astronomische Gesellschaft (AG), an international society for German-speaking astronomers, at Jena (Germany) on September 14, 1992.

Aims of the working group are:

• Organizing scientific meetings
• Providing information about publications and activities in the field of the history of astronomy
• Undertaking joint projects

The working group is open for all who are interested. The membership is independent from that in the AG and at present is free of charge.

The working group releases a 6-page newsletter in German language ("Mitteilungen zur Astronomiegeschichte") as well as special issues with bibliographies. Outside Germany the newsletter is sent free of charge at present. In case you are reading German you may ask the secretary to be included into the mailing list.

In January of 1994, the working group started to issue electronic newsletters.
