General Adventuring Tips

Hint 1 of 7:
These are basic adventure gaming hints that have appeared in many forms in
many different locations:

Hint 2 of 7:
Pick up everything that's not nailed down. Literally, if the game describes
an object, you want to pick it up, move it, open it, use other objects on it,
or otherwise figure out why it's there.

Hint 3 of 7:
Make Maps. Mapping out areas and writing down the objects and enemies you
find can be extremely helpful...especially if you have to backtrack!

Hint 4 of 7:
Don't be restricted by one point of view. While most games don't have
puzzles that have illogical solutions, you never know what might work. You
may want to play the game with a friend to gain another person's view of the
game.

Hint 5 of 7:
Save early, save often. If you think you're doing something that could
backfire, save. If you're heading into an unexplored region of the game,
save. Most adventure gamers have a favorite horror story of playing through
a new game for hours, getting near the end, dying, and then discovering their
last save was right after the beginning of the game. As an addition to this:

Hint 6 of 7:
Keep a variety of save games. Many games have points of no return, and if
you've forgotten to do something back then, and you don't have a save, you're
out of luck!

Hint 7 of 7:
Take breaks. Come up for air once in a while. Not only will your family and
friends be happier, but you will probably head back to the game with fresh
ideas for those puzzles that were stumping you.
