6. FTP Helper

This loader application is there to facilitate file downloading with MONICA. It is currently in beta test stage and is appropriate for advanced users only. You do NOT need to use this application to use MONICA, and It is to be regarded as a BONUS application for users.

6.1 What is it?

MONICA FTP Loader is a program that will load FTP directories and show you the files. These are shown in a listbox, from which you can drag URLs to the main MONICA application for placement in the download queue.

Typically you would use this helper when you have found an FTP site with a lot of files that you wish to download.

Please note that this application is still being developed - it is not perfect!

6.2 Usage

On startup you need to provide the Site, Login ( usually "anonymous" ), Password ( usually your email address ), and the Port ( usually 21 ) in the appropriate fields to the right of the screen. The site should be merely the FTP site name eg: ftp.somewhere.com, and not in the format ftp://ftp.somewhere.com/. If you need to access the site in Passive mode, check the Passive checkbox.

Once this information is provided press the "Connect" button. A running commentary is displayed at top left, and files are shown in the main listbox if the connect is successful.

To navigate folders, double click on them in the listbox.

If for some reason you need to manually change directory/folder, press the "Manual Cahnge Dir" button to enter the new directory name.

When may drag any files from the listbox into Monica for loading in the queue. ( Folder drags will be ignored ).

When you have finished browsing a site, press the "Disconnect" button.

Press "Quit" to quit the program.

6.3 Other Functions

Sites you have connected to in this session are stored and may be accessed by selection from the pulldown menu immediately above the "Site" field.

You may store your favourites, provided all necessary information is displaying in the fields, by pressing "Add Favourite". To delete a favourite, select it in the Favourites popup menu and press "Delete Favourite".
