Acorn PD Software ....

This program was written to enable the rapid renaming of groups os files transferred from sources such as PC format CDs or the internet. These files often have three letter extensions such as .TXT, and are frequently in upper case only. The program can strip off or modify the extensions and optionally rename in lower case. The filetype of the group of files can also be reset at the same time, either to a given filetype or a filetype guessed from the DOS extension, if any - the program can be confused easily if the filename has been truncated... To rename a group of files, drop them onto the !Dexter window or onto the iconbar icon. Directories are ignored. If renaming a file would conflict with an existing filename, the file will not be renamed, similarly if the file is locked. An option to automatically unlock files that are locked is provided. Use the program at your own risk - extensive testing has not been carried out and many bugs are no doubt present. It has only been tested on a StrongArm RiscPC at the moment, with no major problems showing up. Use should be fairly intuitive.
