[Joystick Roundup]

The majority of Acorn machines aren't fitted with joystick interfaces as standard and as a result there are a number of third party hardware interfaces on the market at the moment. Before I start the reviews, I'd like to thank Stuart Tyrrell and ACE for lending me the interfaces and joysticks for this review.

There are two types of joystick which can be used with Acorn machines: analogue and digital models. In the world of joysticks, analogue is better because it offers on-screen movement proportional to the movement of the stick rather than just up, down, left and right movements which are offered by the digital models. To our knowledge, there are currently two digital and one analogue interface available for use with Acorn computers. Below are links to the comparative review between the two digital interfaces (one from ACE and the other from Stuart Tyrrell Developments) and also to the review of the analogue interface, also from Stuart Tyrrell Developments.

If you know of any other joystick interfaces for the Acorn range that are not mentioned here, please contact the reviewer, Alasdair Bailey, and we'll review them as soon as possible.
