The Links Exchange

----------------------

Commercial developers
Company homepages offering games to buy.

PD Authors
The homepages of the people that make the free games scene tick over.

Games sites
Other games-dedicated sites; just the good ones.

Utilities
Not strictly games themselves, but all the same, generally related, kind of thing.

Archives
  • Acorn Arcade Archives We keep our own archive of PD games, commercial demos and some utilities for download from links on the pages; you might like to try there first.
  • CDRom.Com
This contains the most hugest archive of DOOM levels, patches and TC's (total conversions) in the world, most of which work with one or other of the Acorn versions.
    • Main Site Generally slow to access from the UK due to massive overload, but most regularly updated.
    • UK mirror Fast to access from the UK, but tends to be a day or so behind.
  • Frederic Elisei's Download Area Where to get the best Acorn graphics demos, and some games, such as Bubble Impact.
  • Stuttgart University
One of the biggest games collections, going back years. You're unlikely to not be able to find what you want here, but may carry old versions of games which are frequently updated.
    • Main site Fast on the continent, but slow to access from the UK; recommend use of a proxy server (eg. www-cache.demon.co.uk:8080)
    • Sunsite Mirror Faster to access for most UK users than the main site.
  • Argonet FTP area A limited but largely quality collection.
  • Demon FTP area Bigger than the Argo collection, but less up-to-date.
  • The Stomping Grounds The biggest and best Quake site. Just about *anything* for quake can be got from here, right from the shareware version to the the most exotic patches to hints and tips. Based (obviously) around the PC version, so not the place to go to for technical support.
  • Planet Quake Like the stomping grounds, but more specifically Quake-orientated.

Online Shopping
You want to buy commercial games? Too lazy to go down the shops? These sites simplify the process.
